How We Made It #7: The Walkie Awards 2026

This is another in our series for paid subscribers on behind the scenes production of the Photowalks series.

This week, we’ve got the 2026 “Walkies” edition, a guide to our favorite walks, as experienced on Photowalks.

The genesis for this is reading way too many travel “Top 10 (fill in the blank)” listicles. When I came across one on the best walks in the USA, inspiration hit. Well, we get around–we’ve been to over 140 locations for Photowalks. Certainly we’ve got some ideas on the most walkable cities.

What we produced is known in the trade as a “clip show.” I mine the Photowalks library to put highlights from past shows together into one, weaved together into a narrative. I write a script, put it into the teleprompter, record myself addressing the camera, and then do the edit.
