Last 2025 Newsletter: Thank You & Survey Says
Click for me, won't you?
As we prepare to say so long to 2025, I wanted to offer a huge thanks for coming along with me for the ride again with me this year, as we traveled all over the country (about 6,000 miles worth, plus another 5,000 to Japan) and talked here about phone photo and travel tips, my analysis of tech events and stories from my life.
I realize it’s an eclectic bunch, and I can’t thank you enough for sticking with me all these years.
So again, I wanted to say thanks again, and learn more about you.
Now, as we ring in the New Year, I really, really want to hear from you:
Where do you want me to go next on Photowalks?
What topics do you want to read about in the newsletter?
Who should I interview on the road?
What phone photography techniques can I show you when I’m out there?
Do you miss the live shows and want me to start doing them again?
What phone tips do you want to hear about? Shooting techniques, explaining the menu, talking about accessories?

Or…Call me!
Inspired by my friend J.R. Shaw of Galveston, Texas, I just put a Google Voice number together that you can call anytime. 213-347-4884 (1-800-PHOTOWK was taken!)
I left USA TODAY after a multi-decade career on January 4, 2021 (but who’s counting?) hopeful for the future and excited about Act III and that Photowalks would take off.
Did I dream that a big national streaming network would like the show so much it would air 44 episodes in one week between Christmas and New Year’s Day? Or that I’d be the countdown guy on New Year’s Eve, with ten episodes airing just that day?
OK, Scripps News is a small streaming network, but I love the love, both from Scripps, my fans on YouTube and this great community on Subtack.
I heard so many really nice things from you this year.
“I saw Photowalks this morning for the very first time, and I was thrilled beyond belief. I’ve lived in the Central Coast of CA all my life, my grandmother was born in Monterey, but I’ve never seen such beautiful sights as on your show! Thank you for what you do! —Susan, a faithful Photowalks viewer from now on!
“Such great information, beautiful photos, great ideas. This just became my favorite show!”—Suzanne Thomas.
“What a great reminder that I need to visit the southern California coast again! I’ve been to Santa Barbara many times. Your photos and videos felt like an actual visit! I love how you incorporate both video and stills to give us a flavor of each beach town you visited! Great job!—Debbie.
“Jeff, you tell a great story about traveling along the coast on Highway 1 with your photos and videos. I travel the coast and take pictures and usually forget to shoot any video (or very little). My photos live in my photos library. I need to make a conscious effort to shoot video and THEN turn the photos and video into a story!! You’re the master story teller who always makes it look so easy.”—Todd
Thank you to each and every one of you who took the time to leave a comment, offer kudos, offer story tips and watch a video. I can’t thank you enough for being here.
Meanwhile, don’t forget to spend New Year’s with Photowalks on Scripps. The marathon begins at midnight and continues to 5 a.m. ET, then picks up again at 9 a.m. to noon ET.)
It really is a wonderful life. Now if I could just stop eating so much pizza.
Thanks again everyone!
