New Video Alert: Kyoto, Japan
Overtourism is a problem, but we found some really nice spots
Kyoto is one of the most beautiful cities in the world—and one of the most crowded.
Consider this: Japan’s oldest city has 1.5 million residents, yet gets 50 million tourists yearly.
But in the latest episode of Photowalks, we take you to the other side of Kyoto—the quieter, lesser-known neighborhoods most visitors never see.
With help from a local guide, we escape the overtourism of Gion and explore peaceful bamboo forests, rural temples dating back to the year 810, family-run farms, a traditional indigo artist, and historic Japanese homes—all without the masses.
Enjoy!

Fabulous photos Jeff! What month were you there? Must have been fall. Makes me want to go back!
Cash is still widely used—carry some yen.
