New Video Alert: The Art of the NY Subway
It's one giant free museum underground
The latest episode of Photowalks, direct from underground New York City is live and ready for your viewing pleasure. In the show, we explore all the amazing art on display.
For the production of this episode, I visited over 15 subway stations, marveling at fabulous artwork that most people zip right by, from the contemporary 2nd Avenue subway on 72nd Street to the iconic Queensboro station in Long Island City. We also stopped at the awesome Transit Museum in Brooklyn.
This is one of my all-time favorites of the Photowalks episodes—and I don’t think it’s just that I grew up in New York. Perhaps it’s that underground art shows off New York at its finest. It’s the greatest (almost) free museum in the city, as well as a photographer’s paradise.
I hope you’ll enjoy it!
FYI: as always, the production was a family affair. My sister Lily helped out with camera work on the first segment, and we have lots of great music by my brother Jez Graham all throughout. Mai Nolasco from Scripps did camera work on segments 2 and 3 (on an iPhone) and also did a fabulous job. Thanks to all.
Let me know what you think of this episode!
