Watch: A Weekend in Detroit for Fun & Photography
Michigan's largest city is an Art Deco masterpiece
Greetings from what was the second stop of the recent Photowalks Midwest tour, Detroit.
Forget what you may have heard about past issues in Michigan’s biggest city. The place is an Art Deco masterpiece, with a beautiful waterfront, a great little island to visit to snap shots of the skyline, those famous Coney Dogs and simply the best pizza I’ve had all year. (Sorry Chicago.)
Everybody makes their pizza differently, and Detroit has it’s own unique way. I went to Buddy’s for “Detroit Style” pizza twice during my three-day stay. It was that good.
Plus, I made some great new friends while there, like Ron Watts, A.K.A. Phat Kat, the rapper by night and tour guide by day, Grace Kero, the outgoing owner of the American Coney Dogs establishment (that’s her in the thumbnail with me) and hey, I got to ride around in a classic Model T Ford at the Henry Ford museum.
Take a look and let me know if you don’t fall in love with Detroit.
Plus, ICYMI, here’s Battle Creek, Cleveland and Cincinnati.
A fantastic watch! I’ve always been morbidly fascinated by Detroit, and stopped there on a cross country road trip in 2016. It’s definitely come a long way!
Really enjoyed a look at Detroit and you hit all the places I'd want to visit, especially Motown!
