I’ve got three videos for your viewing pleasure today.
For starters, we have Chapter V, the finale of the Route 66 series, as we cross into Arizona and into the land of Wig Wams, that corner in Winslow, Arizona, the great old towns of Oatman, Williams and Seligman and the cool tiny city of Flagstaff. Then, we finish up in the California desert communities of Amboy and Needles, stop off for a malt at a great old Pasadena diner and finish up at the historic Santa Monica Pier.
Next, as I’m currently on the next road trip,. through the Midwest, I stop by the TV station WXYZ for a fun interview about Photowalks (and Detroit) with anchor Kiara Hay. (I’m in Cleveland today, off to Columbus, Ohio tomorrow!)
And every Friday I chat with Scripps News anchors about the latest Photowalk—so in this segment, we cover the end of Route 66, how’d I do it differently if I was to start the trip all over again, and preview the Detroit episode.
And the Winner Is! Michigan’s Upper Peninsula
Yesterday I asked for your help in planning the next great Photowalks road trip, and you must know me so well now—as you mostly picked the one place I want to visit more than anywhere else, the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. I love small town America, especially, when coupled with great colored leaves, and people who don’t live on the coasts.
(Although since I’m a chocolate freak, I’m surprised more of you didn’t select Hershey!)
As I’m on a mission to visit the world’s most photographable places, and the Michigan tourism folks have told me what a cool paradise the “U.P” is in the fall—I hope to get there this year. Especially to Traverse City and car-less Mackinac Island.
I still want to go to every one of the locations in the poll, as well!
Where’s your next adventure? What’s the one place you’d like to go to more than anywhere else?
Let me hear from you!
Jeff
Well, Mackinac Island, not Mackinaw Island! If you are early October, kayaking in the Les Cheneaux Islands is still possible. 30 minutes from St. Ignace in the UP. Traverse City is nice, and 2ish hours away from the Mackinac Bridge.
