Vlogcam shootout – GoPro Hero 9 vs. DJI Pocket 2 and iPhone 12 Pro

You’ve seen it a zillion times. We’re making a video and talking into the camera as we walk. But since human beings tend to bounce when they stroll, the video takes a bounce too. Meanwhile, there are several new cameras promising amazing image stabilization. Are they good enough to prevent the bounce?

I set out to find out, in a new video comparing how the iPhone 12 Pro, GoPro Hero 9 and DJI Pocket 2 camera handles the “walk and talk” shot. Which of these cameras does a better job smoothing your bounce? I left the answer open-ended in the video below because I’d love for you to take a look and let me know your verdict. I have one though. I think there’s a clear winner.) Let me know what you think, and we’ll compare notes!

  1. The DJI Pocket 2 is the sequel to the original Pocket. Because it has that miniature three-axis gimbal, it’s designed for smoother video than you would get on a smartphone or action camera. The new version has improved audio, a wider point of view and higher resolution video.

  2. The GoPro Hero 9 is the latest version of the Hero camera, and sports a larger preview screen than in years past, the ability to shoot in higher resolution 5K video, longer lasting battery and what it says is smoother video.

  3. The iPhone 12 Pro is one of four new iPhones offered in 2020, with a 6.1 inch screen that is said to be 4x less likely to break, improved low light photography performance and that great iPhone camera that offers image stabilization.
